It all starts with a trip to the zoo carrying in your hand a camera and your new amazing lenses. Now you are ready to capture moments that will forever remind you of the beauty you had a chance to lay your eyes on. And God sees that.
Birds from all over the world; animals you never imagined to exist. One question absorbs your concentration: What is the story behind their pretty colors and shapes?
For some animals on display, the zoo’s staff may be able to satisfy you with plentiful information on their origin and habitat. The excitement of such beauty fades the hurtful truth they have stamped on them, exposed right before your eyes: they are not free; they live in captivity. And God sees that.
Unfortunately the same reality is known to many boys and girls, teens or younger ones, left to the care of their survival skills since an early age: they also live in cruel captivity. And God sees that.
Their stories flood the Internet and scream in the streets. They can’t tell you who they call “mother” or “father”. All they know is that their dreams are shattered. They feel worthless, as some used and broken merchandise to be served to the next client and then the next. Guilt and hopelessness is their daily bread. And God sees that.
Like a bird in captivity, they will do exactly what they have been trained to do so they don’t have to fight the groaning of an empty stomach. And have you heard the morbid sound of their beating heart? They don’t care if you don’t like its beat. Love and kindness are words their life dictionary has not yet assimilated. And God sees that.
Even though they understand they live in captivity, they still give in by fear. They have been taught not to command the shackles of their feet to loosen for the sake of avoiding tragedy striking their way, and they have believed it. And God sees that.
Their body has been carved by deceit, but that is no artwork that they should be proud of. Today they belong here. Tomorrow they may belong over there. One day they are no more. And God sees that.
God knows them and hears the sob from their crushed soul; not even tears dare to come in their defense. God makes himself present behind amazing lenses of mercy and grace and in due time He will save them.
God holds the big picture in His hand and will never forsake those who cry out to Him.
“Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble; He saved them out of their distresses.” Psalm 107:19
